How was everyone’s Labor Day weekend? Mine was splendid. My boyfriend and I started a new tradition weekly tradition. Every Saturday, we leave the apartment and don’t come back until after dinner. We don’t make any plans. We just get out and explore, rather than sit around the apartment. In the two weeks since we started doing this, we’ve discovered some really cool spots.
This past Saturday, we left the apartment and decided to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. We’ve both lived near NYC most of our lives, have been living in Brooklyn for almost a year, and had never walked across the bridge! So we put on our sneakers, grabbed our water bottles, and headed out.
We had a good 2 mile walk to the bridge, and then another 2 miles across and back. Views like this are way better than watching TV!
On our way back, we had the option of going back the way we came or veering left toward a different part of Brooklyn. We decided to explore a little more and headed left to DUMBO, which is right under the Manhattan Bridge.
We discovered a park with more beautiful views, walked through some cute little shops, rehydrated with some deliciously fresh juice, and then headed to a beer garden we came across on our adventure the weekend before.
Afterwards, we grabbed some dinner and didn’t head back to the apartment until almost 10pm. We made the most of the day by staying active and creating our own adventure. This is one tradition I definitely want to keep!
How did you spend your Saturday? When is the last time you left your house to simply explore?
Last but not least, we have some winners! The winner of the RunnerBox giveaway is Dani Vitale-Ebert! Congrats Dani!
