The beginning of my marathon training has proven to be much more difficult than anticipated. Before this week, I hadn’t run in over a month. I know! I got so roped into p90x that I neglected my running. What makes it even worse, though, is I probably hadn’t done a morning run in 2 months!
Early morning running is an entirely different beast. It’s much more difficult, for me at least, to get my energy up right after I roll out of bed vs running later in the day when I’m fully awake with a meal in my system. However, I do enjoy running early in the morn and the sense of accomplishment that follows. I also never know what time I’ll get out of work soooo a lot of times it’s run in the AM or not at all.
The point is, I’ve been having a tough time with my runs this week. I’ve gotten them all done, but I was SLOW. I also wasn’t mentally in it. I think I just need to get back in the swing of things, but man, I was not expecting a 3 miler to be so tough. I have to make myself some energy bites to take before heading out the door.
On a high note, my 5 mile run yesterday brought me past the 600 mile mark. Woohoo!
On an even higher note, this got delivered!!
After a TON of research and advice from a lot of you, I ended up getting the Garmin Forerunner 610. I’m so pumped! I haven’t used it yet, but I’m going to go program and play with it right after I finish this post. I’ll keep you all updated on how it works.
In other news, I’m heading off on a much needed vacation next week, but I corralled a great group of ladies to guest post for me. Get excited for some new faces!
How do you boost your energy for morning workouts?
