You all know I’m a fan of trying new workouts. I definitely have my go-tos, but I’ll never say no to a new class or workout style. Trying new things is the best way to challenge yourself and your body and also learn what you like, after all!
That said, when Beachbody offered me the chance to try their newest dance fitness program, Country Heat, I was hesitant.
“What the heck, Nicole? You just said you love trying new workouts.”
I know. I know, but I also know from trying so many new workouts that dancing and I do not get along. I always see dancers and think, “How cool would it be to do that?!” I get all inspired and decide I’m going to learn. Then I take a class and can’t for the life of me get my hips to go left and my arms to go right or figure out how the heck the instructor is moving so fluidly while I look like a drunk chicken. Actually, scratch that, a drunk chicken can probably dance better than I can. Wouldn’t want to insult all the chickens out there.
Despite my concerns, Beachbody assured me it was fun and even non-dancers are loving it. Alright, I’ll give it a shot. I did really enjoy the last Beachbody workout I tried.
Before I get into my thoughts, how’s about a little background on what Country Heat is all about?
This program was created by Autumn Calabrese, the brains behind the incredibly popular 21-Day Fix. As a trainer, Autumn realized that one of the top reasons people don’t lose weight is because they can’t stick with their workouts. She wanted to create a program people would stick with, so she created Country Heat, a program that is so simple and fun, you’ll actually want to do it.
Each dance workout (there are 6 different ones) is set to chart-topping country music and all of the moves are simple and line dance-inspired. Plus, each workout is only 30 minutes, making it easy to squeeze into a busy day. Here’s a little preview:
The program also includes an eating plan, workout calendar and quickstart guide to help you along your health and fitness journey.
Even though the folks at Beachbody told me the workout would be great even for drunk-chicken dancers like me, I didn’t believe it, but I was going to give it a try.
Before taking on the first video, I watched a how-to on the moves (there’s a short video before you take on each new workout). Autumn broke everything down in a way I could understand, and the moves really were simple! I felt like I was doing them pretty well!
Then came the moment of truth: the workout. Right from the get-go, I realized this wouldn’t be torture, after all. The music was a blast, the people in the video looked like they were having the time of their lives, which made it more fun for me to follow along, and the workout was actually a lot of fun!
I wasn’t insanely sweaty at the end, but I did feel like I got in a decent, low-impact workout. I think this is definitely a great option for people that don’t like HIIT and aren’t a fan of weights. This would actually be a really great option for people who flat out don’t like exercise because it doesn’t feel like exercise! It feels like you’re at a southern saloon having some fun with your friends. You don’t need any equipment, either, so you can do it from the comfort of your living room.
I’m definitely keeping Country Heat around as a solid workout to fit in on recovery days or on days when I really just don’t feel like working out, and, thanks to Beachbody, one of you will be able to win the whole program!
One winner will receive:
- 3 Country Heat DVDS for a total of 6 high-energy, low-impact dance routines
- Country Heat Quickstart Guide
- Country Heat 30-Day Calendar
- Country Eat Eating Plan
- Portion Control Containers

I used to be a decent dancer. Now I couldn’t dance my way out of… well something that you would dance your way out of. I tried Country Heat at Blogfest and discovered just how true that statement was!

I’ve tried beach body before and I think it’s ok…it’s definitely not something I will do all the time but like you said, a great thing to keep around for recovery days. I have their PiYo DVD set and it’s a pretty good one. I think I would enjoy a line dancing inspired one though- I love to line dance!
I am always up for trying new workouts! So not a dancer myself but hey why not? Thanks for the linkup

I would LOVE this. I’ve always been a fan of dance inspired workouts, due to the fact that I was a bunhead in a former life! Perfect for my home gym too.

Okay, I am totally into this giveaway! Thanks for hosting. At BlogFest this year, we got to try about 10 minutes of Country Heat, and I was in LOVE. I’m a huge line dancing fan, although I don’t know that many and haven’t done it in years, so I was really excited to give this workout program a try. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win!!

Looks like a fun workout! Did you get certified to teach it?

I have never tried a dance workout before but would love too!
We had the chance to do it live at Blogfest. I did about half the class and ended up just taking pictures the rest of the class (class blogger 🙂 ). I’m not a country music fan, but I though it was really fun to work out to.

This looks fun…but, yeah. Another drunk chicken dancer here (and a BAD one at that). I did a 5K last year, and they had a zumba gal leading the warm-up….. my friend and I went over and tried to join in. And then all these other peeps joined in BEHIND us….what? Like I really wanted an audience following me (going the wrong direction and shaking the wrong hip, etc.). Total chaos! 😉

I’ve tried zumba a few times, but never a dance-inspired CD! This looks fun and entertaining for sure!
Workouts that require coordination terrify me. Hahaha. I’m so not coordinated, but I do enjoy laughing at myself as well 🙂

Zumba is definitely a no because I’m so uncoordinated. (Think Elaine from Seinfeld.) I wonder how it’d work for me. I wouldn’t want to dance in the morning though.

I have not, but would love to!! Anything my son can join in on with me to is always a plus 🙂 And he sure loves dancing!!
Looks like it could be fun, but I am not a dancer so not sure how much I would enjoy it for exercise.

I have never tried any of the 21 day fix workouts or meal plans but I know a number of people who have had great success with it. It’s nice to see a diet “fad” that actually encourages proper eating habits and getting up and moving!
Does the Just Dance series on Wii count?
I’ve done Zumba and laughed at myself a ton!
Does Dancin’ With the Oldies count? LOL. Then, yes.
Back when I was in my college’s Hawai’i club, Tahitian and hula practices were part of my workouts! 😛

I have never tried a dance-inspired workout
I have not yet tried a dance based exercise program but am game to try.
We have done zumba and Billy Blanks. I can only handle working out when there is music.

No, I’ve never tried a dance-inspired workout before. I would be excited to try it out!
I’m a drunk chicken dancer too, but to hell with it. I love to dance! Lol. I’ll definitely give Country Heat a try. 🙂
