I love the fall. I love the smell of the crisp air, the colors of the leaves, and all the delicious fall fruits and veggies (apple and pumpkin picking, anyone?). Fall in New York is particularly amazing, so when I found out I wouldn’t have to work this weekend (finally), I was excited to get out and enjoy some fall activities.
Saturday, my boyfriend and I woke up early and took the train out to Long Island. Once there, we met up with his family and family friends to go on a wine tour! Check out this party bus!
We also stopped at a local farm stand. If I wasn’t going on vacation this week (heading to Texas to visit family), I would have been all over these veggies!
The farm had jumbo pumpkins! They were just a little heavy…
The whole day was filled with great people, great wine, and great fun! We got back to Brooklyn pretty late, enjoyed our extra hour of sleep for daylight savings time, and then it was time for the ING NYC Marathon!
I didn’t run in the marathon, but was hoping to cheer on a few friends that were. I am super lucky in that the marathon ran right by my apartment! My boyfriend and I walked up a block to cheer on a bunch of runners between mile 8 and 9. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to spot my friends, but I had a blast cheering on all those amazing runners.
Congrats to everyone that ran the marathon! You are all amazingly inspirational athletes. Right after I watched you run through Brooklyn, I was motivated throughout my entire 15 mile training run. If you all can run 26.2, I can make it through 15, right?! Here I am about to head out the door. 15 miles with an average pace of 9:44 per mile. Not too bad for my first 15 mile run after a day full of wine… lots of wine…
All-in-all, the weekend was a great one. The weather was perfect, and now I’m off to Texas for a week of warmer weather and some good ol’ southern hospitality.
How was your weekend? Did you run in or watch the NYC Marathon?
