Sooooo remember a few weeks back when I was chatting about my stomach issues? Well after multiple tests, which I’ll spare you the details on, turns out I have multiple food allergies!
What the heck?! I’m already severely lactose intolerant to the point where I avoid dairy. I’m a vegetarian (though I do eat fish on occasion), and overall, I am a pretty darn healthy person. I’m conscious about what I eat, but I try not to obsess about it. But now… now the doctor tells me that I have to be more conscious. How much more conscious?
The results of my tests show allergies to not one, but four foods. FOUR! Quatro. That’s almost a whole hand! The highest allergy is to peanuts. This is me, the nut lovers of all nut lovers, finding out I have a nut allergy:
What else am I allergic to? Um… pretty much the world. Aka wheat, soy, and corn! Sooooo yea… that’s pretty much my vegetarian protein sources and my beloved popcorn right thurr.
So what’s a foodie to do? I’m in the process of trying out some elimination diets. That means cutting out each food-type for 2-4 weeks at a time to see how my digestive tract reacts. First up is all nuts. That’s right. I haven’t had nuts for a week! That is a serious record for me. I’m nuts for nuts! I have 6 jars of nut butters in my pantry right now. Six! They’re just sitting there. It’s a crying shame! (In hindsight, the amount of nut butter I consumed on a weekly basis is probably what caused said allergy seeing as how the more you are exposed to something the more likely you are to become allergic – ah the irony of love…)
Ok. Sorry. I’m ranting.
The good news is, I’m not deathly allergic. So I suppose if I really wanted peanut butter (I do! I do!), I’d just have to suffer the stomach pain and discomfort. But I have to say, after a nut-free week I’m already starting to feel better. Fingers crossed I won’t have to nix all four foods all at once because seriously, what would I eat? Grass?! Oh no, wait, I have a seasonal allergy to grass! Bah!
Moral of the story is, we have a GIVEAWAY WINNER! Ok, that’s not the moral of the story, but I wanted to end this post on a high note. The winner of the Momentum Giveaway is:
