Tired of the same old boring smoothie? Mix it up with three awesome new green smoothie recipes, including my Orange Matcha Smoothie Bowl!
Boy, do I have a treat for you today! I’ve teamed up with two of my awesome blogger friends, Terressa from Achieving Fit and Megan from The Busy Bee, to bring you three deliciously healthy smoothie recipes!
You all know I love a good smoothie. They’re delicious. They’re nutritious, and they’re a great way to get in some healthy greens without feeling like a rabbit. However, whenever I make a green smoothie, it tends to be the same old story: banana, spinach, almond milk and maybe some protein powder – not exciting. So Terressa, Megan and I challenged ourselves to spice things up. We each created a different type of green smoothie, and now we’re coming together to give you all three recipes to help you out of your green smoothie rut.
First up is Terressa’s Vegan Coconut Cream Smoothie!
I can’t wait to try this smoothie for myself. It has pineapple and banana for natural sweetness, coconut cream and shredded coconut for a dose of healthy fat, and hemp protein powder for the muscles. As for the greens, she threw in spinach and… wait for it… zucchini! Who’da thunk it?! Snag this awesome recipe right over here!
Next up is Megan’s Tropical Green Smoothie.
Megan’s smoothie sounds like paradise. Healthy, green paradise. It’s got a powerhouse ingredient list, which includes banana, pineapple, powdered peanut butter, almond milk and kefir (an awesome lactose-free probiotic drink with a consistency and taste similar to yogurt). Oh yea, and it’s gluten, soy and lactose free – BAZINGA! Head to The Busy Bee for the recipe.
Last but not least is my creation, the Orange Matcha Smoothie Bowl!
Orange Matcha Smoothie Bowl
Oh. Yes. When I found a little tub of matcha tucked away in my pantry, I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate it into this green smoothie challenge. It’s been a while since I had matcha, but I think I’m re-addicted to it.
It’s got antioxidants. It’s got a healthy dose of caffeine. It’s got amazing flavor. Check. Check. Check. Plus, it makes for an amazing addition to your morning smoothie.
This gluten free, soy free, vegan and paleo smoothie bowl is super delicious and crazy healthy – mainly because of it’s three, count ’em – THREE – green ingredients: matcha (obvs), spinach and avocado.
Add in the natural sweetness of dates and the juice of an orange and you’ve got flavors so refreshing you’ll want to dive right into this bowl and swim in it… but you’re probably better off just eating it!
Of course, you can’t make a smoothie bowl without toppings, so I sliced up some kiwi (more green power!), vegan whipped cream, hemp seeds and a little more matcha. I then proceeded to devour this in about 10 seconds.
Check out the recipe below and then get to making one (or all!) of these bad boys!
- 1 c unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
- juice of 1 orange
- 1/2 avocado
- 2 dates, pitted
- 1 tsp matcha
- handful spinach
- handful ice
- optional toppings: kiwi, vegan whipped cream, hemp seeds, matcha
- Add all ingredients to blender, liquids on the bottom and spinach and ice on top.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a bowl, add desired toppings and enjoy!
