That’s right. It’s time for another round of Meatless Mondays from A-Z! I missed last week (creating with Queso), but you can check out all the recipes from participating bloggers over at Better With Veggie’s Link Up.
Today, however, is all about Raisins! Presidents. Raisins. There’s a clear link here, people. I mean, anyone running for office that doesn’t like raisins ain’t getting my vote. Psch.
Anywayyyy, I’m pretty excited to share this recipe with you all. Now that I’ve been going to the gym in the morning, I need to bring a post-workout breakfast with me. I need something easy and portable. I’ve been loving over-night oats like these, but I decided to switch it up this week. Feast your morning eyes on this Perfect Start Cereal!
You may recognize this cereal from the weekend’s Move Nourish Believe Week 2 Challenge Recap. This cereal is an awesome way to nourish and fuel up your body in the morning.
The base of the cereal is buckwheat. No not this Buckwheat:
Buckwheat is an incredible source of easy-to-digest protein and is also gluten free! Another fact about this cereal: it’s raw! That means you don’t have to spend any time slaving over the stove or waiting for things to bake in the oven. Just toss in all your mix-ins and go.
My favorite combo has all-natural peanut butter, goji-berries, sunflower seeds, and wait for it… RAISINS! Where you wondering when those bad boys would show up? The raisins add a nice texture and a hint of sweetness to give your day a sweet start :). If I’m feeling feisty, I might even add some dark chocolate chips!

- 1/3 cup hulled buckwheat
- 1 Tbsp raisins
- 1 Tbsp goji berries
- 1 Tbsp sunflower seeds
- 1 Tbsp all-natural peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)
- 1/2 cup almond milk (or milk of choice)
- additional toppings (banana slices, dark chocolate chips, blueberries, etc)
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
- Enjoy an energizing start to the day!
