Mother Nature, let’s have a chat. What’s going on with you, chickadee? You going through menopause or something? It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Mood swings. Hot flashes. It is what it is. I’d just like to know if it’s time to go through the motions of switching out my winter shoes for my summer sandals.
For those of you that aren’t privy to Mother Nature’s recent… um… life changes, the weather in the northeast has gone a little cuckoo over the past few days. Allow me to put things into perspective. On Tuesday, this is what I looked like as I headed out for my run:
Yup. That’s what you’d call an orange eskimo. I had leggings under my pants. I had a tank top, a cold weather long sleeve shirt, a sweat-wicking jacket, and a sweat shirt. On top of that, I had two ear warmers under my hood and big, fluffy gloves on. It was the first time I ran in what I would classify as a mini snowstorm.
Now let’s move a little further into the future. To yesterday. 5 days after said mini snowstorm and mega layer attire, this is what I looked like as I headed out for my Sunday run:
I mean, I don’t want to complain that much. Yesterday was the training run of all training runs, my 20-miler, and I got to enjoy it in nice temps vs having to dodge ice mines – but for reals, this is a little weird.
Any other runners experience this heat wave? Did it throw off your workout wardrobe?
