I can’t believe I’m already 3 weeks in to marathon training. It’s proving to be a challenge, but I’m proud of myself for sticking to my training plan.
I’ve had three long runs so far: 8 miles, 9 miles, and 6 miles, and I’ve finished them all with a time I’m proud of. It’s hard to believe that three weeks ago I wasn’t even running a mile a week! Now, I’m running 4 days a week and even ran over international waters! I love running again :).
Now it’s on to October (can you believe it?!), and the runs are getting even longer. This week, I take my usual 5 mile run on Thursdays and up it to 6 miles! I’m also switching up my cross training to keep my muscles from getting used to the exercises. 11 miles this coming Sunday is going to be HARD, but I think I’m going to map out a whole new route so I can keep myself distracted.
How do you stay motivated during training as the runs get longer? Anyone in the NYC area know of any good long distance routes?
