Ok, I have a confession. I didn’t make it to the end of my Vedging Out Green Smoothie Challenge. I made it 4 3/4 days and then I gave in. To be honest, I’m really glad I did. You see, the detox was beginning to take over. By Saturday, all I could think about was what I would be eating that day for the challenge and what I would eat when I could start introducing things back in. Food should never take over your life like that, so I knew it was time to stop.
I didn’t go crazy, though, as that would defeat the purpose of a detox. I went and got some relatively healthy vegan pizza from this place a few blocks away. I felt so free!
As hard as it was, I’m very glad I did the detox for the 4 3/4 days that I lasted. I felt great those few days, and it proved to me that my body truly appreciates a clean and simple diet. I know now that if my stomach gets upset, I just need to go a day or two with a simple veggie and fruit based diet. My diet is mainly fruits and veggies already, but I incorporate whole grains and lactose-free or complete dairy-free items into my daily eats, as well. I also haven’t had caffeine for a week! As I mentioned here, I never realized how much I relied on my daily cup of coffee, so from now on I am going to try to keep caffeine out of my daily diet.
I will also definitely be making some of these smoothies again! There wasn’t a one I didn’t like! I mean, just look at these bad boys!
So, all in all, I’m very happy I did the challenge, but I’m equally happy that I ended it early. Did any of you take part in the challenge? How did you do?
