Will and I have a stash of protein powder in our kitchen, and when I say Will and I have a stash I mean I have 50981750 things of protein powder. Will has one. Proof.
P.S. This picture had two more tubs about a week ago, but I just finished them off.
What can I say? I like protein powder. I have my favorite ones (Vega when I’m feeling plant-based and Quest I’m digging that whey), but I’m always open to experimenting with new brands. Ya neva know what you might like unless you try, right?
So when Myprotein asked if I’d like to try some of their products, I thought – why the heck not?

Myprotein has HUGE range of protein powders and workout supplements. You can search by product type (protein, preworkout, bars, etc) or by protein type (lactose-free, vegan, whey, etc). After perusing their massive site, I picked out three products to try, and boy were they generous with their samples! I got a 2lb bag of their Impact Whey Isolate, a box of Protein Cookies, and what can only be described as a sack of Hurricane XS (a post workout formula).
I had mixed reviews about the products I received. Lemme break it down.
Impact Whey Isolate (Chocolate Smooth) – I was hoping to try out one of their vegan proteins, but they were unfortunately out of stock. Instead I went with a whey isolate as they are usually lactose-free. The protein mixed well into my smoothies and had a nice chocolate flavor with the perfect amount of sweetness. However, every time I made a smoothie with this protein, I got some sort of acid reflux type thing. I don’t exactly know how to describe it, but I got a little gurgley. I also tried to mix this protein in with my oats (you all know I love me some Brownie Protein Oats), but it didn’t mix well. I got a few protein clumps vs some nice, smooth, chocolately oats.
Protein Cookies (Double Chocolate Chip) – I was pumped to try these protein cookies. They have a whopping 37 grams of protein in them! I tested these out by making protein “ice cream” and crumbling half of a cookie on top of it. I have to say, these cookies are mighty tasty! They aren’t labeled “gluten-free,” but the only flour in them is oat flour. They also aren’t labeled as lactose-free, but the only dairy ingredient in the Double Chocolate Chip Cookies is “milk protein.” This could be a lactose-free isolate. It could be a not so lactose-free protein. I decided to risk it for the sake of the cookie! The result? I don’t think my tummy was too happy with me, but it wasn’t so terrible that I won’t finish my box of cookies. I may just have to limit myself to a quarter of a cookie per sitting, which is a.ok because these cookies are pretty darn big.
Hurricane XS (Chocolate Smooth) – I’m happy this bag was the biggest because I really do like this post workout formula. I mix it with water after CrossFit and it tastes like chocolate milk. It’s pretty sweet, but I don’t mind that after a really sweaty workout. Sweet for Sweat, right? That’s totally a thing. Anywhooo, it has milk proteins (whey concentrate and whey isolate), but they don’t seem to upset my tummy – though I do take 1 scoop instead of the recommended 3 scoops.
While not all of the products I was sent were winners, Myprotein does have a huge collection of products for any lifestyle, so I still give them a thumbs up.
What’s your favorite protein powder?
Have you ever had a protein cookie?
Help me out: That gurgly feeling… what is it?!
