Happy Monday, all! I had an amazing weekend in DC for the Nike Women’s Half Marathon – but more on that to come!
Since I was away all weekend, I didn’t have time to cook for MMAZ, but I didn’t want to leave you hanging without a Meatless Monday option! Instead, I want to share some incredible new Vega products with you (you may have already gotten a sneak peak from my instagram and twitter). I am a huge Vega fan and use their products all the time. They just revamped all of their bars, so I was stoked when Vega and Fit Approach gave me the opportunity to test out all their new creations.
Look at these treats!
Vega bars were created by Brendan Brazier, professional Ironman triathlete, bestselling author on performance nutrition, and one of my go-to sources for health and nutrition info. Every bar is made from plant-based whole foods, is gluten free, and does’t contain any GMOs. Here’s the run down of each new bar:
The Vega One Bar is an all-in-one meal bar. I think it’s perfect for breakfast or if you’re having a crazy work day and can’t grab lunch. Each bar covers your nutrition bases with 12 grams of complete plant-based protein, 4 grams of fiber, 1 serving of greens, 1 billion dairy-free probiotics, 25 added vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, and Omega-3s. Plus, each one is dipped in vegan chocolatey goodness. Need I say more? I had the Chocolate Cherry Almond flavor on my early morning drive up to DC. It was like having a delicious candy bar for breakfast and it kept me full all morning!
The Vega Snack Bar is the perfect on-the-go or afternoon snack. I tried the Dark Chocolate Mixed Nuts & Sea Salt and the Cranberry Almond and both were delicious and fulfilled by munchy desires. Check out all the other flavors here.
The Vega Sport Protein Bar is the one I’ve been looking forward to the most. I’ve tried the old Vega Sport bars and they were just ok flavor wise. Let me tell you, Vega has really upped their game. These new protein bars are DE-LISH! I devoured a Chocolate Mint bar right after my half marathon yesterday to replenish my body. It felt like such a treat! Chocolate and mint is also one of my favorite flavor combos, so Vega really nailed it for me! Each bar is packed with 15 grams of complete, plant-based protein, 2.5 grams of BCAAs, 2 grams of glutamine, and 1 gram of Omega-3s. What does that mean? It means it has everything your body craves after a good workout – which is exactly what 13.1 miles was yesterday!
The Vega Sport Energy Bar is the only one I have yet to try. Since it was taper week, I didn’t have a need stock up on nutrients mid-workout, but this week, I’m right back into training for the Brooklyn Half coming up in only 3 weeks! Plenty of opportunities to give these bars a go. These bad boys give your muscles the fast-acting, long-lasting energy they need to endure a tough workout. They feature 27 grams of both high and low glycemic carbs for immediate and sustained energy as well as Omega-3s. I’m pumped to try both new flavors: Chocolate Coconut Almond and Apple Cherry.
I tip my proverbial hat to you, Vega. These bars are incredible! If my taste buds could thank me, they would do so in the best possible way (I’m thinking a dozen yellow roses, a massage, and a vacation to the Maldives – get to it, taste buds!). I can’t wait to stock my pantry with more of these scrumptious creations.
All of these bars are coming out VERY soon, so head over here to pick out the flavors you want and get excited for them to launch!
Are you a bar connoisseur? What do you think of the new Vega bars?
NOTE: Vega provided me with a free sample of these products in exchange for a review and social media promotion in partnership with the Sweat Pink Ambassador program. I wasn’t under any obligation to write a positive review, nor would I ever promote a product or brand I don’t believe in. That said, Vega is awesome. Seriously, I would hire Brendan Brazier to be my personal chef if I had that kind of moolah.
Another note: All photos in this post were provided by Vega. I wish I thad those skills.
