Dessert for breakfast? Why the heck not? Filled with gluten-free goodness, this Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Smoothie Bowl is the perfect way to start your day.
It’s no secret that I love smoothie bowls. Actually, love isn’t quite the word. Obsessed is more like it. I don’t know what it is about them. The fact that they’re refreshing? The fact that the creamy texture is to die for? The fact that I can top them with all my favorite toppings? Perhaps, but I think the best thing about smoothie bowls is the flavor combinations are endless.
Despite that fact, I’ve been in a smoothie bowl rut as of late. I’ve been creating the same two or three combinations over and over again. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all DELICIOUS, but I decided it was time to step up my smoothie bowl game and come up with a new flavor.
So, I was walking through the grocery doing my usual weekly shopping when I took a detour down the cookie aisle. DANGER WILL ROBINSON!
I stared longingly at the cookies. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite. No contest. Oh, cookies. If only you were allergy friendly.
NO, NICOLE! Even if they are allergy-friendly you DO NOT need a box of cookies in the house. You know you’ll eat them all at once watching one episode of This Is Us, and you have a wedding dress to fit into in less that two months!
Fine, reasonable Nicole. I know. I know. But you know what I can do? Put all the flavors of my favorite cookie into a smoothie bowl!
BAM! My Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Smoothie Bowl was born!
I picked up some raisins before checking out. The next morning, I got to creating!
Let’s see…. Raisins. Check. Oatmeal. Check. Hmmm…. Cinnamon? Check. Would baking soda be good? It’d probably give it more of that cookie flavor. Ok, check! And then for a smoothie… Almond milk. Got it. Frozen banana? Why not? Ok, let’s give that a go!
I tossed it all in a blender with some vanilla protein powder (go big or go home, right?) and gave it a taste.
By George! I’d done it! My smoothie tasted like oatmeal raisin cookie dough batter. I topped it off with some oatmeal raisin granola, chia seeds and almond butter and quickly snapped some pictures (#foodblogger). Then, I dug in!
Ya’ll… it’s heavenly. I highly suggest you make this ASAP!
