Confession. I have a granola addiction.
Either way, I love making my own granola and granola bars. I’ve been granola-less for a while now, so I decided to try a new granola recipe this weekend.
Hello, Granola Nut Clusters.
I love straight-up granola, but it’s tough to eat just a handful of the stuff. All the little oats, quinoa, nuts, and things just slip right through your fingers and make a mess, but these granola clusters are a perfect grab-and-go snack. They stick together in little chunks, making them much easier to snack on, but you can still mix them into yogurt or cereal.
I based the recipe off this one from Oh She Glows. I followed the recipe pretty closely, except I used honey instead of brown rice syrup and brown sugar instead of Sucanat sugar. They came out deliciously sweet, nutty, and completely addictive. I’m actually really surprised the jar is still mostly full.
They remind me of the True North nut clusters (if you’ve ever had those), but because they are homemade, they are so much cheaper!
I definitely would recommend you make this recipe if you’re a granola and nut fan. Just be sure to use your best judgement when it comes to portion control. While the oats, pecans, and walnuts have plenty of nutritional value, when combined all together with the honey these clusters can be a little high in calories.
What is your favorite type of granola (bars, clusters, classic)? Do you have a favorite flavor or add in (nuts, raisins, pumpkin)? Send me your favorite recipes. I’d love to try them!
