Have ya seen the the Blogiversary Bonanza Giveaway happening RIGHT NOW? No? Climb out from under you rock and head over here right now! Then head back to this post so you can check out more about one of the awesome prizes: a copy of one of my favorite cookbooks, Vegan Cooking For Carnivores.
This book was on my wish list for a long time. I wanted a cookbook that would satisfy my mostly vegan lifestyle but would also make my carnivorous boyfriend happy. The title of this book led me to believe that this cookbook would be the winner, and it did not disappoint! I’m still working my way through the recipes, but everything I’ve made so far has been AMAZING.
The mastermind behind this culinary masterpiece of a book is Roberto Martin, Ellen Degeneres’ personal chef! Look! Ellen!
Roberto is not vegan but created some amazing recipes to suit Ellen’s vegan lifestyle. Just the title of some of the recipes in this book make my mouth water. There are things like the Avocado Reuben, Belgua Lentil Caviar on Blini, Chocolate Cheesecake, Tofu Benedict with Chipotle Cream, Sliders, Southern Fried Chick’n…. I could go on and on.
And the pictures. Don’t even get me started on the pictures. Here are some for your drooling fancy:
I made Roberto’s Caesar Salad and my boyfriend was convinced the dressing had to be real caesar dressing. Nope, vegan! The French Onion Soup is to die for. I made the Veggie Chili for the Super Bowl and it was gobbled up (I was the only vegetarian at the party, btw), and the Shiitake Lettuce Cups? Nom Nom Nom.
Check out Roberto in action on the Ellen Show:
I haven’t tried any of the breakfast recipes yet, but that’s next on my list! Maybe I’ll whip up this Quinoa & Berry Breakfast Cereal this weekend. What do you think?
And I haven’t forgotten about the giveaway that just ended. The winner of the Apera Sprint Pack Giveaway is….
Congrats, lady! I sent you an email :).
Have you ever surprised a carnivore with a vegetarian or vegan dish?
