Watch the big game with a big bowl of this Slow Cooker Hearty Beef Chili! It’s a homegating hit and a touchdown for your taste buds!
You know what’s awesome about living in Texas? Well… there are a lot of things, but something I’ve loved lately is the fact that I can always find my beloved Dallas Cowboys on TV. Back in New York, I had to find a way to stream their games, head to a special Dallas bar, or just follow the score on my phone. Now that I’m in the Lone Star State, the Cowboys are always featured. It’s been awesome, especially because they’ve been doing well this year.
Regardless of who ends up playing in the big football game in February, Will and I plan on throwing our annual viewing party. We’re simply moving it from Brooklyn to Austin!
We’ve hosted friends for a homegating/viewing party for the past 3 or 4 years, and it’s one of my favorite events to host. I make quite the spread of apps, everyone brings their favorite munchies, and we always have good drinks on hand. Plus, because it’s a Sunday, everyone drinks and has a good time, but with work the next day, no one is looking to get sloppy or stay too long. It’s the perfect set up!
Because I’m making so many dishes, I like to keep things simple. I tend to have one or two things that can bake in the oven on tin foil for easy clean up (like pigs-in-a-blanket or wings), some veggies and dip (usually homemade the day before), an easy dessert (like these Chocolate Chip Chickpea Blondies), and something brewing in the Crockpot.
The Crockpot is a serious time savor, and one of my favorite things to make for our big football party is a nice big batch of Slow Cooker Hearty Beef Chili!
Brown your beef on the stove, throw it in the Crockpot with everything else, let the slow cooker do its thing, and badabing! Instant deliciousness!
Start it in the morning, and it’ll be done by kick off. You can also make it ahead of time and store it in the freezer.
Anyone can make a good chili, but what really makes this chili exceptional is the secret ingredient.
Ok… I’ll let you in on the secret: instead of a Plain Jane tomato sauce, I use RAGÚ® Meat Pasta Sauce. This sauce brings chili to a new level of awesome. It’s made from farm grown ingredients that are peeled, chopped, and simmered to create a robust texture. Plus, it doesn’t contain any artificial flavors or high fructose corn syrup.
You can use any of RAGÚ’s delicious sauces to make this chili (RAGÚ Homestyle Traditional Pasta Sauce, RAGÚ Homestyle Cheese Pasta Sauce, or RAGÚ Homestyle Roasted Garlic Pasta Sauce), but I like the Chunky line or the Homestyle Meat Sauce for an extra dose of heartiness.
Head to your local Kroger to get everything you need to make this chili, and be sure to download this coupon for $.075 OFF any ONE RAGÚ Homestyle Pasta Sauce.
