Is it Friday? I’ve been slammed at work lately, working through the weekends and all that jazz, so I’m struggling to keep track of the days – but if today is indeed Friday, it’s time for the Fit & Fashionable Friday Link Up!
As you all know, I’ve been running a ton of races lately. In attempts to PR, I didn’t want to have to schlep my handheld water bottle with me. I know it doesn’t really add all that much weight, but it’s a pain to carry, especially for longer races. I could put everything in my awesome Armpocket Armband, but it would be hard to get my fuel out of there for longer runs. I’d have to take the whole band off, unzip it, get out my fuel, eat my fuel, put back in the band, zip it back up, and put it back on my arm. Ain’t nobody got time for that on the road to a PR.

Long story short – I was searching for a new way to carry all my stuffs when SPIbelt reached out to me. Perfect timing!
SPIbelts (Small Personal Item Belts) are basically like more flattering fanny packs that can discretely stash all your stuff while you run (phone, keys, fuel, ids, money – you name it). Yup, runners are bringing fanny packs back in style! Look at us fashionistas!
Anywho, I picked out the SPIbelt with Water Resistant Pocket and Gel Loops in black and hot pink (to match this hurr blog!). The pocket expands to 7” x 3” x 2” and the band has six loops for gels/chews. The pocket doesn’t fit my iPhone 6 with its big clunky case, but it fits pretty much everything else. I stashed my keys, id, credit card, cash, and an energy bar in the pocket and put my gels in the loops.
I was nervous I would find the belt annoying and the gels wouldn’t stay in the loops, but I was very very wrong. I didn’t notice the belt AT ALL as I ran, and the gels stayed in place but were also easy to pull out when needed.
I even put some chews in a Ziploc bag and they stayed in the loops! Not very attractive, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do!
I definitely think this will become my go-to fuel-stashing device for long runs, and I might have to look into the one that you can clip your bib number to!
If you’re interested in getting a SPIbelt for yourself, you can get 15% OFF until June 5th with code “fitfulfocus15”.
After you shop and pick out your SPIbelt, come on back and add you links to the Fit & Fashionable Friday Link Up! Full link up rules here.

Fanny packs – the new Chanel bag?

I love how much the SPI belt can fit! It was one of the first running accessories I purchased, definitely a must have for long runs!

Wow, it looks so small, it’s really cool that it can fit all that stuff!

I’ve been needing a new running belt because I have so much stuff. This seems like it can fit a lot!!
It definitely does! They have one with a bigger pocket and ones with two pockets, too!
I’ve been considering getting a Spi belt for a long time now. One of my friends that runs ultras with me has one & she loves it. I love your review. Sounds like it’s time to take the plunge & get one! 🙂

Plunge on in! Nows the time when there’s a discount at hand 🙂
i never knew what SPIbelt stood for! I’m all over the place on how to carry nutrition. In triathlon the bike is a huge challenge cause you can’t have your pockets stuffed for the swim and it is hard to ride with no hands! A belt like this would be useful for the run, especially if the aid station offerings aren’t the nutrition you typically train with. Thanks for sharing.

It’s definitely great for fuel. I wonder if there’s a way you could strap it to the bike for easy access?
Love it! Looks like you can stash lots of stuff in there!
My life in a fanny pack haha
That looks very useful! I like the contrasting colors as well.

They have a bunch of fun colors and even a few patterns.
I had no idea SPIbelt was an acronym, that’s awesome! I love mine!

Yey! Glad I could bring you your daily dose of learn-something-new-every-day!
That is one of the more cuter belts I have seen. I was thinking at first they were like fanny packs but actually I was wrong. That one is very nice and looks like it holds a lot.

It’s pretty great. Since I got one, I see them on runners all over the place!
I’ve seen these on a few other blogs this week, I think they are FANTASTIC!! I run with my dog and am always struggling to find somewhere to put my key and my phone! Love the idea of this!

I wondered what SPI meant now I know! Ha. There has been a lot of talk about this little belt and sounds like with good reason! I’m going to have to try it out!

It’s pretty great. I was skeptical at first, but now I’m going to use it non-stop.
First of all….LOVE the tights!! Where did you get them? I have a hard time with stuff around my waist, so I would be hesitant to try, but so many people who don’t like waist belts love this, so I may just have to! Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Sue! They’re from Fabletics :). I’ve tried other waist belts and wasn’t a fan, but this one I really do like!
I’ve always wanted one of these! I’ve heard so many great things.

The belt looks awesome for sure! You can store so many things. I’ve haven’t done a runnign route where i needed to store fuel, but I feel like I’ll need to get one of these guys if I ever do!

Even if you don’t use fuel, you could stash keys and id cards 🙂
That was one of the first belts I had. Still love them! I am on vacay and didn’t even write a post today or even turn on my computer until just now. Will link up again next week!

hooray!! So happy to hear that it’s lasted you a few years.
Nice review! I got to review the Flipbelt last year and I love it- you do need room to stash all your stuff and mine I can throw in the wash- score! I do like how you can hold your gels and stuff on the outside- very cool!
oh nice! I haven’t washed this one yet, but the material seems washable!
I’m amazed by how much you were able to fit into that belt!

I’m a good packer ;-P haha
First off, you look FABULOUS in your photos 🙂 Second, I love how it’s like a mini fanny pack! VERY convenient! I wonder how this compares to a flip belt!

woot woot! SPIbelt fam 🙂
Great review Nicole! I really NEED those tights and the jacket 🙂
Thanks, Jill! The tights and jacket are Fabletics 🙂
My only issue with this is that I’ll probably take it overboard and try to carry way too much stuff haha

haha! They do have ones with bigger pockets and even ones with TWO pockets!
I love my SPI belt! It holds my big phone and a gel or two which I totally need when I’m training in the summer. I’m not a fan of the arm bands for my phone so this has been perfect for me!
