I started this blog to be about over health – healthy eating, staying fit, being happy, but I’ve noticed a lot of my posts are food-related. While there is a huge reason for this (I’m a firm believer that a healthy body is 80% what you put in and 20% what you sweat out), I want to create a bit more of a balance in the scales. So I’m making it my goal to start posting more fitness and well-being related posts – starting with this one.
I try to challenge myself physically – switching up my workouts to keep my body on its toes (and also so my mind doesn’t get bored). To push my goals into the future, I signed up for a Tough Mudder!
For those of you that don’t know what a Tough Mudder is, I’ll let this do the talking:
Right after I signed up, I experienced a jolt of excitement followed almost immediately by the thought, “What have I gotten myself into?!” 10-12 miles AND at least 20 insane obstacles?! I might be crazy. I’m definitely a little nervous about this event. It’s going to be way more challenging than the half marathon I ran last year. Luckily, my boyfriend signed up to do it with me, and we are slowly but surely getting a team of just-as-crazy friends together.
Over the next 6 months, I’m going to have to work on my upper body strength. My goal is to work my way up to being able to do a few pull-ups. Right now, I can do about… zero. Soooo there’s that. I also might also need to take a few ice-cold showers to prep for the dumpster full of ice (yikes!) I’ll keep you updated on my training and progress. Maybe do a program like this.
Have you ever done a crazy race like this? What was it like? Also, if you’re in the tri-state area and feel like joining our crazy team, let me know. The more the merrier!

I signed up for this TM too and I am officially freaked out. Plus I have a marathon a month after. I am insaaaaane! Gl with training!

I signed up for one this year too. Doing it with a big group so that should help but I’m definitely slightly apprehensive about the whole deal!!
I think a big group is definitely the way to go. We’re in the process of putting one together. I think we have 6 people so far. Which one are you doing?
was going to do mid-atlantic in April, but looking at my racing schedule – think I need to bow out. biting off more than I can chew this spring! But, talking aobut Warrior Dash in May instead.
